Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that has made us, and not we ourselves: we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
It takes discipline to "get into the Word". There are too many days in my life when I think I remember passages and concentrate on what I remember instead of rereading the scripture.
For example yesterday I was trying to remember the similarities of our God being the tree of life. Wow, what a rude awakening I found as I perused the concordance at the back of my Bible looking for "tree" to no avail. Then searching out all passages with "life" in them.
One scripture led to another. I was reading the Word. I was not open to absorbing what I was reading, until I ended up in Matthew, Chapter 20, "workers in the vineyard". I read over several times verses 1-16.
Pow, that was exactly what I needed to hear! As the living Word was "Taken to Heart" I was moved by God in a compassionate way to concentrate more fully on living my life by Matthew 20:16:
"So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen."
I realized God called me long, long ago to be a laborer in His field. My wages were outlined the same as everyone's else that's called. But, I think I've most recently been the laborer standing out in the field with idle hands. I want to be one of the chosen.
Note to self: Take God's Word to Heart and Get to Work
